Mikal Dark (pronounced Michael Dark) aka M.D. is not a DJ. Mikal Dark is a producer, a performer, and a musician of the highest caliber; known for emotionally driven live PA performances, and a high energy interactive stage presence.
With his roots firmly planted in jazz/afro cuban/fusion drumming and percussion, Mikal began producing electronic music in 2001 at the age of 17. Under the influence of artists such as Aphex Twin, Square Pusher, Boards Of Canada, Chris Clark, and Jimmy Edgar, Mikal released his first album "Is There A Doctor In The House" in 2004 as a founding member of the then fledgling independent label, Rabid Mind Entertainment.
Over the next few years, although very little was recorded or performed, both Mikal and his music underwent a period of great growth and maturity as he took a hiatus from performance in order to study electronics and computer networking at San Juan Basin Technical College. During this time he gained a greater understanding of the electronics he was using to create, and expanded his knowledge of the principles, standards, theories, and devices involved in composing music electronically.
Returning to the stage in 2010, with a finely tuned sound, a polished stage presence, and the swagger of a seasoned music industry veteran, quickly re-established himself as one of the premier electronic performers in the South West region, sharing the stage with artists such as Jogger, Nosaj Thing, and Jon Bishop. With the release of "Saguaro Sessions" in early 2011, Mikal now stands poised to expand his audience to a national level, with every intention of attaining international exposure.
